Virgin Pendolino, class 390

During construction of the trains, a decision was made during review of West Cost Main Line project in 2002 to build all trains 9 carriages long. At first 44 eight-car and 9 nice-car trains was ordered. [1] The contract price was first 1,2 billion pounds, and 44 extra carriages was 44 million pounds, says source [1]. Another source [2] says, contract price was 600 million pounds.
