First 11 "blue" express train coaches were made in Esslingen, Germany
by Maschinenfabrik Esslingen in year 1961. After that they all were made
in Helsinki by VR Pasila Works. In all, over 600 "blue" express wagons
were made in Pasila during years 1964-1986. "Blue" wagons are the primary
wagons for long-distance trains since 1970es. In year 1996 there was:
-
440 First and second class passangers coaches
-
60 Restaurant cars
-
24 Wagons for car carriage trains
-
120 Sleeping wagons
After this the number has began to fall, as new IC2 carriages replace old "blue" coaches.
