Sm2 is derivated from Sm1. It was manufactured from 1975 to 1981. It differences from Sm1 with ligth-metal body, air-springed bogie and in electric equipment. Sm2 has motor carriage Sm1 and driving van trailer Eioc. Both trains achieve between 0 and 30 km/h an acceleration of 0.84 m/s2 when full and an acceleration of 1.13 m/s2 when empty. Maximum six Sm2 and Sm1 can be coupled together to build a train with 12 wagons, but normally the length of the platform limits this to five Sm1 or Sm2 units [1].

Sm2 trains, will be refurbished by the end of this decade. The prototype of the refurbished Sm2 trains, unit number 6061, was be placed in trial service at the end of June 2002. Refurbishing of this train series should have started on year 2003, but in summer 2004 the actual start is still unclear.
