Timetables

VR has published its timetables in the WWW since June 1996. Since December 2000 there is also a search engine for timetabels. Commuter traffic timetables around Helsinki are listed in the tables only in Finnish and Swedish, but are included in the search engine. The long distance timetables (also to Russia) are listed in Finnish, Swedish and English. YLE Text-TV has major timetables too (in Finnish).

Ferries from Stockholm, Sweden to Finland are luxurious, but have reasonable prices. There is two ferry companies between Finland and Sweden, Silja Line and Viking Line. They are very similar, Silja Line is a bit more expensive and luxurious. Silja Line timetables from Stockholm to Finland. Viking Line timetables from Stockholm to Turku and Helsinki. In northern part of Finland, in Lappland, it is even possible to take buss from Sweden to Finland. Eurail, Scanrail and Interrail passes are valid on buses between Boden-Haparanda-Kemi.
